Q : Why " Dogshit & Tofu " ?
A: A long long time ago in a place called Manhattan , several of my friends caught on to this hip new trend called being a "Vegetarian". This made going out to eat with a group of people exceedingly problematic - not in the sense that people were angry with them, but more so that it was hard to find a place we could all agree on that had vegetarian offerings. This was further complicated when some people decided to go "Vegan". One night in absolute frustration after being seated and people arguing over what they could or could not eat I posed the question " What CAN you people eat? Dogshit and tofu? ". Dogshit and tofu soon became my catch phrase for frustration. It's not that I have a problem with vegans, vegetarians or that choice of lifestyle. My frustration was born out of people who lack any sense of flexibility or acceptance when it comes to people who do not live that lifestyle. Life is complicated enough and we need to accept that respecting lifestyle choices is a two way street. The people who were hell bent on making everyone vegetarians eventually dropped out and those of us who were accepting of each other continued to dine together. Then 9-11 happened and we all went our separate ways.
Dogshit & Tofu as a phrase embodies my frustration at a world gone mad. As a web experience I am sharing the observations, experiences , and frustrations with you in the manner of collage art from commonly available images combined with my thoughts.
Q: What do you mean by "This is life as I know it"
A: Check out the song " Life is shit " by The Dead Milkmen
Q: Why not dogshitandtofu.com/net/org/tv ?
A: In time ... in time ....
Q : Did that story REALLY happen ?
A: Yes. The stories recounted in DS&T are based on actual life experiences I have had. There are no names, but there are symbols that represent the people , places, and events. In some rare cases there are pictures of actual people / animals that I have interacted with.
Q : Who did your awesome logo?
A: Mar Mars , of SUDUX , who is an awesome artist and human being.
Q: Why do you double space sometimes?
A: Because I use an old IBM M series keyboard that has a spacebar problem. I hate all other keyboards with a passion normally seen in black and white movies. If you would like to send me a new one , email me directly. I already have the appropriate USB adapter.
Q: What is Truckasaurus?
A: It is the most awesome thing you can do to your ears short of cupping your palms over them and rubbing forward and back to hear the pac-man sound. Oh yes, yes, yes.
Q: Has anyone tried the above mentioned method way of hearing the pac-man sound after reading this?
A: Yes. Mar did. I'm told it worked perfectly.
Q : What is the name of the dog in the logo?
A : Tofu. I am sorely tempted to get a dog just for that reason, but I'm a cat person. Time will tell.
